I am an artist first and foremost and take pride in paying attention to the details, doing the best possible work that my hands will allow. Exploring different mediums and varied techniques is a result of always learning more about design and my craft.
When I build a piece for someone, the intention is to make it last for lifetimes to come. The long-term quality standard for design and craftsmanship have come forth using the mindset that if I was building the item for myself, it shouldn't need frequent repairs or unnecessary maintenance. The idea is to do it right the first time.
My work has many different elements of inspiration that come from things such as the rugged shoreline of Lake Superior, the amazing simplicity and complexity in nature, the beauty of a line, subtitles of textures, geometry of architecture and patterns, and nostalgia of design elements seen in the world around us in years past.
I am on a lifelong journey as an artist, never sitting back and settling for average. Many of the inspirations for new ideas come at times when you’re least expecting them. It can be as simple as just paying attention to the world around you and seeing it through a different lens beyond just what is obvious. Staying responsive to what is seen and experienced is a way of life, which keeps me fresh and imaginative. Most of my work is one of a kind or limited production pieces.
There are always new ideas forming and I look forward to introducing them as time and inspiration allow. Thank you for taking time to learn a bit about the person who will craft your works of art.
